Shawn H. Miller, CPA, CFE, now retired, was one of the most significant contributing authors to this site since it's inception.
Shawn has significant public accounting experience in the specialized field of tax exempt organizations including labor unions, employee benefit funds, charitable entities, trade and professional associations, and advocacy groups. He was responsible for all aspects of client service and engagement management including engagement budgeting, supervision of staff personnel, preparation of financial statements, tax filings and informational returns including Forms 990, 990-T, LM-2, LM-30, 5500, and others. He performed numerous audits in accordance with OMB Uniform Guidance for organizations receiving Federal Awards and has an intimate knowledge of government grant administrative requirements and cost principles. Shawn also performed several fraud investigations, internal control reviews, operational audits, and reviews in compliance with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. Additionally, after passing a rigorous test and attending over 50 hours of classroom training, Shawn became a Certified Fraud Examiner in 2003.
Shawn received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting through the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Maryland.
